In the early 1700s, the discovery of anti-gravity technology led to the development of the aeroship trade. But there is one area into which no sky captain dares to venture, and that is the Grey Veil: an inhospitable fog threatening the lives and sanity of all who enter.

With the Veil under a strict travel-ban, most level-headed pilots circumvent this treacherous place. Captain Rosanne Drackenheart, on the other hand, makes a pretty penny conducting her smuggling operation through the very edge of the mysterious fog.

When she is blackmailed into searching for a lost warship, she is forced to venture into the untraversed bowels of the Veil. Rosanne must defend her crew from mystical creatures, defend against pirates gunning for her ship, and save herself from the creature known as the Forest Devil.

Featuring Scandinavian myths and steampunk elements, Perils of Sea and Sky is a thrilling high fantasy adventure.

Nelson Blackwood is a plucky young lawyer whose only goal is to find out what happened to his father, captain of the ship Retribution, which disappeared without a trace. He enlists famed airship captain Rosanne Drackenheart, who has, with her crew on the Red Queen, amassed fortune through less-than-legal means. She is experienced at traveling through the forbidden Grey Veil--uncharted territory hiding monsters beyond imagination. They set off on a journey that seems to conclude too quickly, but an encounter with pirates and a gnarly storm quickly sets off a new adventure that tests the crew to their limits. Norwegian author Horn's debut novel includes Scandinavian mythology and elements of steampunk, and is a riveting story that will keep readers glued to their seats until its satisfying conclusion. Perils of Sea and Sky excels in incorporating multiple genres, making its appeal that much broader. Readers will be happy to find that the epilogue sets up a sequel, as the adventures of Rosanne, Nelson, and crew will live on.
