Gr 7 Up—-overing parties and special occasions like prom, homecoming, "quinceañera" and graduation, the authors have developed a modern set of rules for navigating today's more relaxed social customs with finesse and confidence. Myriad issues are tackled, from how to rent a tuxedo and who pays for what on prom night to table settings and crafting the perfect thank-you note, with important points highlighted. The comprehensive guide gives proper respect to religious occasions and thoughtfully explains how to determine from an invitation whether bringing a date is acceptable or not. Witty line drawings complement the text. The book does waiver into more than a manners book in its advice on carefully weighing whether to have post-prom sex, but overall it gives good information on how to comport oneself in various situations.—"Elaine Baran Black, Georgia Public Library Service, Atlanta"

For proms and other elaborate secular and religious celebrations, the number of details and the pressure to achieve perfection can seem infinite. The Post dynasty, still one of the most recognizable and trusted names in etiquette, can provide some clarity. The scope is wider than other manners books and includes a discussion of post-prom sex. Only currently available as an ebook. (LJ 7/10)

High school students wondering who pays for a prom corsage or what to say in a graduation-gift thank-you note need look no further than this clear-cut etiquette guide. The cozy, idealized, old-fashioned style, embraced by occasional spot illustrations, sometimes extends to the scenarios (do deejays still cart around boxes of albums?); however, the basic principles of respect, consideration, and honesty are timeless.
